Organizational Background:

Bright Star Development Society Balochistan (BSDSB) is a non-profit and humanitarian organization. BSDSB is registered under Balochistan Charities Registration and Regulation Authority under the Balochistan Charities (Registration, Regulation and Facilitation) ACT No. XI OF 2019. BSDSB Mandate is “to improve the quality of life of poor and marginalized communities through community mobilization, livelihoods enhancement, empowerment, value-added public service delivery, humanitarian response and preparedness in neglected areas of Pakistan”. BSDSB has been working from the last 25 years in Balochistan. BSDSB mostly operates in Balochistan province and also works on the National level on disasters response. BSDSB works on thematic areas Social Mobilization, Advocacy, Emergency/Disaster Response and Preparedness, DRR/CBDRM/Climate Change, Food Security and livelihood (FSL), WASH, Shelter, Food/NFIs, Health, Nutrition, General and Child Protection and Human Rights. Gender and Environment are cross cutting themes of the organization’s all projects and interventions. BSDSB has vast experience of the implementation of the Development and Humanitarian response projects in Balochistan. BSDSB has General Body consists of 40 members, these members elects the Member of Board of Directors in every two years. Chief Executive is the responsible for the organizational and Program Management and appoints the Program and Projects staff according to the organizational Policies and Procedures. BSDSB has professional senior management, staff and volunteers. Currently BSDSB has 85 staff and more than 100 Volunteers and Ex. Staff, however time to staff numbers change according to the availability of Funds and Projects.

Sibi, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi, Naseeranad, Jaffarabad, Sohbatpur, Kohlo, Quetta, Pashin, Kalat, Killa Abdullah, Killa Saifullah, Kharan, Washuk, Gwadar, Dera Bugti, Harnai and Barkhan districts of Balochistan Province. However BSDSB works in any emergency or need based in other parts of Balochistan and on National level, Currently BSDSB is working in Jacobabad and Kashmor districts of Sindh and also implemented two projects in Bannu and North Waziristan Agency (KPK/FATA) on emergency response.

BSDSB gives very importance to Networking, Collaboration, Linkages development and Localization. BSDSB is member of National Humanitarian Network (NHN) and hosting NHN Balochistan Chapter, NHN with their Balochistan Chapter members and with the support of NHN National Secretariat is paly very important role for the provincial and district level coordination with PDMA and DDMAs, relevant Government departments, INGOs and UN Agencies, working on promotion of Localization Agenda, Capacity building of the member organizations and Advocacy for current humanitarian issues. BSDSB is member of Start Network, Network for Empowered Aid Response (NEAR), Balochistan Development Network (BDN), DRR Forum, Pakistan CSOs Collision for Health and Immunization (PCCHI), PSEA, Global Network for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), Ujala Network, EVAW-G Alliance, Pakistan Development Alliance (PDA) for SDGs, TVO NGOs/CBOs Network, Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), Gender and Disability Network Balochistan. BSDSB is also member different UN clusters on provincial level included Food Security and Agriculture, Protection, Health, Shelter/NFIs, Protection and WASH. BSDSB is registered with Provincial Disaster Management Authority (DPMA) Balochistan. BSDSB has signed MOU with Economic Affair Division (EAD) Government of Pakistan. BSDSB is also certified from Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP). BSDSB has strong presence in their working target area. BSDSB has secured the projects NOCs form PDMA Balochistan and DDMAs on district level. BSDSB has their offices and staff in Quetta, Sibi and Naseerabad. BSDSB senior management, staff and volunteers are well experienced in programs and projects management and implementation and having local knowledge of the area. BSDSB has strong linkages with Provincial and Local Governments and as well as with the local communities of their working target areas.
